This beautiful rare vintage 7928 is in perfect running condition. It is a rare transition 7928, when Tudor started using the Tudor emblem that is still used today instead of the old Tudor rose. Most 7928 Tudor Subs you’ll find are hence with the old Tudor rose. This one is very rare and desirable among collectors.
There is heavy patina to the luminous on the watch hands and hour markers. The bezel shows the beautiful, desirable fading and pearl is worn. Watch has been fitted with a custom handmade, brown leather strap and stainless steel tang buckle by the watchmaker Gilbert Gudjunsson from Reykjavik, Island.
The reference 7928 was introduced in 1959 and went through several design modifications. The depth indication was upgraded to 200m and crown guards were added to protect and minimize any damage to the crown. There were two different crown guard shapes, “square” crown guards, which gave the watch a robust appearance, and later a slightly pointed version commonly referred to as “pointed” crown guards. This current example is the updated version introduced in 1967. This matte dial version has its signature printed in white instead of the previous gilt color, and the minute markers extend to the edge of the dial for greater visibility. The continuous improvement on this single reference is a testament to the brand’s commitment to creating the ultimate diving watch which still continues today.
All photos are of the actual watch being sold. The watch is a piece of watchmaking history, yet can be worn wonderfully.
